There are a number of islands easily accessible from the city by speedboat; rides lasting up to 10-15 minutes. The biggest and nearest would be Pulau Gaya. Not only a resort with unique flora ad fauna, but also developed with schools.

Pulau Sapi and Pulau Manukan are also tourist-rich places; famous for activities like snorkeling (Manukan), and the longest island zipline in the world and monitor lizard inhabitants (Sapi), clear waters home to colorful marine life, with chalets and food stalls aplenty for those who would like to stay the night.

Of course, with the beautiful scenery of these islands and the maintenance required, do prepare extra money for any of the activities you would like to do.
